Date Night: Outfit on a Budget

Date night outfit
Skirt: Topshop, Blouse: Topshop, Boots: Stuart Weitzman, Heart Cuff: C.Wonder, Clutch: Dillards, Earrings: Kate Spade, Large cuff: Tory Burch.

I've noticed that people in New York wear a lot of black. Travelling in a busy subway in winter months and its literally a sea of black coats. Until I moved here I hardly ever bought anything black (still more of a navy girl!), but some items are seeping into my closet. Loving these lace pieces, they add such femininity to the dark tones. And who can resist these gold cuffs?! I love the idea of wearing one on each wrist. (Admittedly, the boots aren't exactly the most budget friendly, but I think this outfit would work just as well with any black (or gold) pump, I'm just a sucker for a cap toe!)

Summer Pastels

Hat: J.Crew, Skirt: American Apparel, Bag: Kate Spade, Top: Reiss, Sandals: Tory Burch (similar here)

This weekend we took a trip to Brooklyn to check out the Smorgasburg food market and wander around the area. Can you believe after 7 months living in NYC we had never been to Williamsburg? Needless to say, the market was fantastic, the views of Manhattan were incredible and I was in vintage store heaven! I have some wonderful vintage finds to show you!
I chose this outfit, mostly because it was such a ridiculously hot day and I wanted something light and very comfortable to wear. I got this silk vest from the Reiss sale when I was back in the UK and remembered that I had this peachy skirt from years ago (remember this post? It seems like a lifetime ago)!

June Snapshots

June has been a scorcher! I'm definitely used to British summers and living in NYC for my first summer is becoming quite an experience already! Needless to say, 90% of the time I'm loving the heat- even getting a tiny bit of a tan (for the first time in 10 years- no joke!)
Spent the last month taking a lot of snaps around the city- if you follow on Twitter or Instagram (@mochasoywhippy), you'll definitely sense a theme- I can't get over the stormy skies and beautiful sunsets we've been having.
On to July! Looking forward to my first Independence Day living in the US, if just for themed cupcakes and lots of fireworks. Then, in less than 2 weeks I'm headed back to the UK for an exciting visit, can't wait to see family and friends again! What are your plans for the summer?

A Marilyn moment in preppy stripes

Shirt: American Apparel, Skirt: JCrew, Sandals and sunglasses: Topshop, Cuff: Tory Burch, Belt: Zara

Note to self: if it's breezy on the ground, don't go on the roof to take photos, because it'll be blowing a gale. Lesson learned.

April Snapshots

Happy May 1st! I can't believe that the whole have April has flown by so quickly! It's been a fantastic month, filled with great food, lovely walks in central park and more exploring in the city. I finally got myself a new phone so back to instagramming on a regular basis... or you can follow via Twitter!
I'm participating in NYC's 5 borough bike tour this Sunday... not exactly sure what i've gotten myself into on this one, but hopefully it'll provide for some interesting photo opportunities at the very least! Stay tuned!
