Peach and polka dots

I can't even remember the last outfit post I did without wearing a hat....

Skirt: J.Crew, Blouse: American Apparel, Bag: Foley and Corinna, Sunglasses: Topshop, Belt: Vintage

In my opinion you can't go wrong with polka dots or stripes, especially for summer! This skirt is a recent favourite, I find that it pairs really well with both pastels and brights! Bonus! I wore this outfit for a hot day wandering around Chelsea, one of my favourite parts of NYC. You can even see the HighLine Park and the DVF store in the background of some of these shots!
PS: Are you tired of this belt yet? I've been wearing it so often for years now, I can't help it, I've never found another I love as much. Do you have favourite accessories you wear over and over again?

My new NYC salon: Arrojo

I've been in NYC 5 months now and shamefully left it this long to get myself a haircut. Luckily, my love for hats has made that a little easier to get away with until now! I'm sure I'm not the only person who feels nervous about getting a haircut, we've all had those nightmarish styles in the past that we'd much rather forget! Looking for a salon in anew city is always difficult and I've found it takes a few tries to find a good place I want to keep going back to.
Step up, Arrojo! I'd heard about Arrojo mostly through Twitter and other bloggers, and decided it would be a good place to start my 'quest' for a NYC salon. Needless to say, I'm hooked. The salon has such a fantastic atmosphere, everyone is super friendly, they even have a cute cafe for refreshments! Much more impressive than any salon I visited in the UK... My colorist, Inva, knew exactly what shades would work for evening out my blonde highlights along with suggesting I go a little lighter for summer and I immediately trusted her judgement.
I never really know what I want from a cut... layers or no layers? bangs or no bangs? Jon my stylist suggested that a longer bob in one fixed length would work best for me, especially when I'm prone to ridiculous frizz in this humidity.

Et voila! I couldn't be happier with the result- looks like I've found my salon! Arrojo also has their own line of products so I took home some of their de-frizz serum which also seems to be having the desired effect even in the 32C heat. I still love my hats, but maybe there'll be a few more hat-less posts in store in future now!

Lilac pleated sundress

Dress: Topshop, Bag: Kate Spade, Belt: vintage, Hat: J.Crew, Necklace: Baublebar

I think about 40% of my wardrobe consists of pleats right now, but that's OK with me! This has to be my favourite dress so far for the summer. Luckily my Mum tracked it down for me back in the UK, because I couldn't find it here on online in this color. So glad she did! The weather is so hot and stuffy in NYC right now, so the light floaty fabric is perfect. On cooler evenings I've been wearing it with a pastel baby blue cashmere sweater, I love the color combination!
PS: How do you like my new haircut? I had a trip to the Arrojo salon and I couldn't be happier with the end result...But more on that to come!

Peplums, pencil skirts and polka dots

Top: H&M, Skirt: Topshop, Hat: Reiss, Belt: Vintage

Well I made it through my 40 mile bike tour this weekend! Not sure how I managed it but it was so much fun! Some of you may have seen my photos during the event on Twitter, wish I had some more  to show you!

These shots were taken the week before, obviously when it was much sunnier than all the rain we have here right now. I can't find a decent shot where I'm not squinting in the sun- even in this big hat! I must learn to take evening outfit pictures from now on...There'll be lots more to come once I've resolved my laptop issues. xx

April Snapshots

Happy May 1st! I can't believe that the whole have April has flown by so quickly! It's been a fantastic month, filled with great food, lovely walks in central park and more exploring in the city. I finally got myself a new phone so back to instagramming on a regular basis... or you can follow via Twitter!
I'm participating in NYC's 5 borough bike tour this Sunday... not exactly sure what i've gotten myself into on this one, but hopefully it'll provide for some interesting photo opportunities at the very least! Stay tuned!
